Aerodynamics Flashcards
What does ice do to your aircraft
Disrupts airflow and increases weight along with adding drag
What is V1 and V2
V1 is takeoff decision speed. V2 is takeoff safety speed- the speed the plane can safely climb out on one engine
What is accelerated stop distance
Distance it takes to accelerate a plane from a standstill to V1, experience an engine failure and stop on the runway
what engine is considered the critical engine on a multi engine aircraft
for a conventional twin, the left engine
What does V1 guarantee us? What happens if we dip below V2?
Minimum controllable climb speed in the event of an engine failure on takeoff. Vmc roll??
How does density altitude affect performance
The greater the DA, the less the air molecules can mix with fuel or flow over the wing resulting in a decrease in performance
