Static Air Pressure
Mass of the air supported above that level
Density of air
is the Mass of air per cubic foot of volume and is a direct measure of the quantity of matter in each cubic foot of air. Air at standard sea level conditions weighs .0765 pounds per cubic foot and has a density of .002378 slugs per cubic foot. At an altitude of 40,— feet the air density is approximately 25 percent of the sea leel value.
density ratio
ambient air density/standard sea level air density
Densit ratio
pressure ration/temperature ration
Density varies directly with pressure, and indirectly with temperature.
ASIR
Airspeed indicator reading; the uncorrected reading on an airspeed indicator
IAS
Indicated airspeed; ASIR corrected only for instrument error
EAS
Equivalent airspeed; IAS corrected for position error and compressibility error
TAS
True airspeed; the true speed of the aeroplane relative to undisturbed air: EAS/square root of σ
