Aerobic Cellular Respiration Flashcards
What is ATP?
The energy needed to survive. (Adenosine Triphosphate).
What does ATP convert to when used?
ATP converts to ADP when used.
Oxidation?
Loses Energy
Reduction?
Gains Energy.
Oxidation Formula?
C6H12O6–>6H2O+6CO2+ATP
What is Aerobic Cellular Respiration?
Energy production with oxegyn.
What is Anaerobic Cellular Respiration?
Energy production without oxegyn.

What is the double membrane?
The double membrane is the energy harvesting organelle.

Inner fluid filled space
Site of Krebs Cycle/Citric Acid Cycle
Contains DNA and Ribosomes.
List the order of Aerobic Cellular Respiration.
- Glycolysis
- Krebs’s Cycle
- Electron Transport Chain
- Oxidative Phosphorylation.
Study the diagram for 5 minutes.
you got this queenie!
Where does glycolysis take place?
Cytosol (Outside of mitochondria).
What is Glycolysis?
First off
Glyco= sugar
-lysis=breakdown
(Sugar breakdown)
Glucose is broken down to form 2 molecules of pyruvate.
Glucose is oxidized (loses an electron) and 2 ATP are generated.
Study the Glycolysis Diagram!
Slay!
Where does the Krebs’s cycle take place?
Matrix.
What is the Krebs’s Cycle?
Pyruvate enters the mitochondria and is oxidized into intermediates.
Intermediates are then oxidized and electrons are released, to be picked up by two electron carriers.
What does NAD+ turn into during the Krebs cycle?
Nad+ turns into NADH
What does FAD turn into during the Krebs Cycle?
FAD turns into FADH
How many ATP are produced during the Krebs Cycle?
2
What is released as waste in the Krebs cycle?
CO2
Watch Video + Review Diagram for 5 minutes
SLAYYY
Where does the ETC take place?
Intermembrane.
What occurs during ETC?
The integral membrane proteins pump protons (H+) out of the matrix into the intermembrane space to establish a high concentration of protons.
What is the final acceptor of electrons?
Oxygen is the final acceptor of electrons and accepts 2 electrons and 2 protons to form a water molecule.
ETC formula?
Oxegyn + 2e- + 2H+—> H20

muah, no bars.
Oxidative Phosphorylation?
Welll…
What does ATP synthase allow for? (What is chemiosmosis?)
Chemiosmosis is the flow of protons generating a moving charge that can be used as an energy source.
How many ATP molecules are formed? What is it called? (OP)
34 molecules. Phosphorylation.
Why is it called oxygen phosphorylation?
Oxygen is required during this process!
How many ATP are produced during Aerobic Respiration?
38 :))))
