What is Hypoxia ?
Oxygen deficiency in the body. Impairs function, judgment, memory, alertness, coordination.
What are symptoms of Hypoxia ?
Headache, drowsiness, dizzy, euphoria. Extreme cases Blue tint in ears, fingers lips.
How to fix/avoid Hypoxia ?
Lower Altitudes. Enrich air with oxygen. Supplemental O2
What is Hyperventilation ?
Body accelerates breathing to remove carbon-dioxide.
What caused Hyperventilation ?
Stressful Situation.
What are symptoms of Hyperventilation ?
Light-headedness, suffocation, drowsiness, tingling in extemeties
How to address Hyperventilation ?
Reduce stress. Breath Normaly. Breath into Paper baq
What is Carbon Monoxide Poisoning ?
Produced from Exhaust fumes. Reduces ability of blood to carry oxygen.
What are the symptoms of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning ?
Smell of Exhaust Fumes. Headache, drowsiness, dizziness while using heater.
How to address Carbon Monoxide poisoning ?
Turn off heater. Open air vents/ door.
What is Spatial Disorientation ?
Illusions of motion and position. Often fatal.
How can Spatial Disorientation be prevented ?
Visual reference to reliable fixed points on ground or instruments.
How to address motion sickness ?
Caused by Turbulence or Anxiety.
1) Get fresh air into cockpit.
2) Try diverting passengers attention.
3) Find smoother air.
4) Get them involved in flight. Find aircraft, waypoints.
