Where are collectors on the platform (A30) and how many
There are 3 collectors at the rear of the platform.
Minimum collectors for pumping water from the platform
Minimum 2 collectors.
Minimum collectors for pumping CAFS from the platform
Minimum 1 collector.
What would the pressure relief valve be set to on the CAPA
1400kPa.
Mandatory items of PPE when working in the cage on an aerial appliance
Helmet.
Harness.
Aerial BA changeover procedure
During BA operations, all cylinders will be opened fully. There is 4 cylinders in 2 banks. Which can be switched by the pulpit operator.
Procedure:
When instructed by the pulpit operator close the cylinders of the instructed bank.
Vent remaining line pressure with wheel valve to closed bank.
Disconnect and remove empty cylinders.
Connect replacement cylinders.
Turn on cylinders to check for air tight seal.
If no leaks are present, standby and leave open.
Advise pulpit operator task is complete.
Safe work practises when using aerial appliance
Stay clear of moving outrigger components to avoid crush injury.
Be aware of trip hazards.
Be aware of moving parts, avid pinch/ crush injury.
Don’t climb on platform railings.
Wear helmets when in vicinity of aerial appliance.
Fall risk from cage.
Wear harness and secure correctly.
Ensure rescued persons are secured in cage.
Never use ladders to increase working height.
Don’t use if there is a risk of lightening.
Avoid power lines and radio towers.
Use a spotter around power lines and other obstacles.
Only use 3 BA outlets in the cage and one is as a backup.
BA must constantly be monitored.
Use flight set in cage.
A30 - the platform information

Doesn’t have pump panel. Need a pumper of CAFS truck to use water.

Plywood ground plates must be used to minimise damage.

A31 - CAPA information
Combination aerial pumping appliance. 24m working height. 20m outreach. 2m below ground capacity. Length 9.4m Height 3.8m Width 2.5m Max setup slope of 14 degrees. Need to be within 7 degrees for turntable to self level. Front wheels stay in contact. Has onboard pump. Has wheelchair and bariatric capability. Cage can be placed on the ground. Has 2 foam tanks (one class A, one class B) and one water tank.
What is working height considered as
Working height includes 2m of standing height so base of platform will be 2m less.
Aerial pocket naming system
Pockets are odd on the nearside and even on the offside.
Going from lowest at the from to highest at the back.
What to do when using aerial over water
Put life vest on and disconnect harness.
Reconnect when back over dry land.
Crew size for both A30 and A31
A30 crew of 2 FF
A31 crew of 3 FF and an SO
Points to remember when using rescue ladder
Max 1 person in cage.
Max 2 people per ladder section.
Appliance is to be turned off so there is no movement.
