Class I Dent
Dent where the length is less than 10x the width or is somewhat circular and is greater than 1/32” in depth
Class II Dent
Dent where the length is more than 10x the width and is oriented along the longitudinal axis of the member and is greater than 1/32” in depth
Class III Dent
Dent where the length is more than 10x the width and is oriented more than 15degrees across the longitudinal axis of the member and is greater than 1/32” in depth
Class IV Dent
Dent that is greater than 3/8” long or 1/32” deep characterized by a sharp indentation and is tough and/or mushed
Must also be evaluated as class I-III
Rung, K-Brace, and Lacing members out of service
Class I
Class I dents greater than 1/2” in length and greater than 1/16” deep
Rung, K-Brace, and Lacing members out of service
Class II
Class II dents greater than 1.5” in length and greater than 1/16” deep
Rung, K-Brace, and Lacing members out of service
Class III
Greater than 1/16” deep
Rung, K-Brace, and Lacing members out of service
Class IV
Dent is greater than 3/4” in length

Out of service
Class I
Greater than 1” and greater than 1/16” depth
