Acetylsalicylic Acid “Aspirin”
PO (by mouth)
324mg or (4)81mg chewable tablets
Contra: Allergy
Albuterol (Proventil)
SVN - 2.5mg in 3ml (Set the flow meter at 6 L/min to produce a steady mist)
Contra: HS
Metered Dose Inhaler (ASSIST PT)
As Prescribed - Albuterol - bronchodilator
Epinephrine 1:1000
IM - 0.5mg (q15 to max of 1.5mg)
Peds: 0.01mg/kg w/ max 0.5 mg (q5 to max of 1.5)
SNHD-P (pediatric dosage of epinephrine for anaphylaxis is 0.01 mg/kg IM of 1:1000 solution with a maximum dose of 0.3mg)
Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride (Benadryl)
IM/IV/IO/PO - 50 mg
(Peds: 1mg/kg)
Contra: HS
Epi Auto Injector (Assist)
As prescribed - confirm that it belongs to the Pt.
Glucagon
IM - 1 mg
Contra: None - but may cause Nausea and Vomiting
SNHD - Peds: 0.5mg
Oral Glucose
PO -15g
D10
IV/IO- 25g (250 ml of 10% Solution)
(Peds: 5ml/kg to max 25g)
For a newborn, give 2 mL/kg of D10W.
For neonates (up to 1 month) and children less than 2 years of age, give 5 mL/kg of D10W.
For children 2 years of age and older, give 2 mL/kg of D25W or 1 mL/kg of D50W
Nitroglycerine (Assist)
SL - 0.4mg (q5 min 3x possible)
Contra: Hypotension SBP<100, Erectile Dysfunction meds within 48 hrs
Naloxone Hydrochloride “Narcan”
IN 2-4mg repeat if needed
IV/IO 0.4-2mg to max of 10mg.
Contra: HS, Intubated Pt, neonate resuscitation
Zofran (Ondansetron Hydrochloride)
ODT/IM/IV/IO - 4mg
Peds. 0.15 mg/kg up to 4mg.
Contra: HS - May cause Heart Attack, Chest Pain, Dizziness, Hypotension
SNHD-P (A single 4mg dose can be given by IM or IV, If no improvement is noted a second and third dose can be given, a total dose of 16mg should not be exceeded)
Oxymetazoline - Afrin
IN - 2 sprays each nostril
Contra: MAOI use within 14 days
Phenylephrine (Neo-synephrine)
IN - 2 Sprays Each Nostril
Contra: V tach, CAD, Head Injuries, with Alt. Mental Status
Solu-cortef (ASSIST)
As prescribed (common w/ Pediatric Pts w/ known adrenal problem, bodybuilders, and elderly pts)
