Marketing
The action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising. To advertise or promote (something).
Advertising
The things a company or individual does to COMMUNICATE AND BUILD brand awareness. Traditionally it is done through television, radio or print. Recently it has expanded to online and social media.
Client
Customer who purchases contracted services
Consumer
A person, or household, that purchases goods or services. Sometimes referred to as a customer.
Target Audience
Particular group of people, identified as the intended recipient of an advertisement or message.
Advertising Campaign
A complete, planned course of action formulated to achieve defined objectives.
Traditional Media
All public forms of communication, such as TV, radio, newspapers, and magazine advertisements.
Nontraditional Media
New forms of public, and private, forms of communication such as emails, blogs, social networks, wikis, podcasts, and interactive advertising.
Branding
Aims to establish a significant and differentiated presence in the market that attracts and retains loyal customers. The collection of all things an audience will experience, and how all the brand elements work together. For example, the company’s logo(s), color palette, photo style, typeface, tagline, brand message, placement, treatment.
Corporate Identity
The creation and maintenance of a positive company image, the way an organization is presented to or perceived by its members and the public.
Focus Group
Individuals brought together for the purpose of asking them questions about a product or marketing strategy.
Design Agency
Firm that creates new promotional ideas, designs, and provides other such services that help a client in entering and succeeding in a chosen market.
Copy
Text or message portion of an advertisement, including the headline, sub-headlines.
Single Truck
Refers to a one page ad, usually in a newspaper or magazine, with content that is only on one page.
Double Truck
Refers to a pair of facing pages, usually in a newspaper or magazine, with content that stretches over both pages.
