Advantages of further reform
A
- More democracy
- Adapt constitution with society – House of Lords, people don’t see a need for House of Lords
- Meet the needs of those areas who want regional reforms
- Appeal to the needs of the electorate
- More equality between component parts of the UK
- Improving relations between branches of government
- To make constitution clearer
2
Q
Disadvantages of further reform
A
- Further conflict within regions – imbalances of power
Intertwined with corruption – judiciary reducing power of them, is more of a self-serving interest - No demand for it
- Can lead to more referendums – disruptive (controversial), expensive, cost time (but then any piece of legislation costs time), undermines the idea of parliamentary sovereignty
