Sarah has saved up money from her summer job to go on a trip to Atlantic City with friends. When her mom gets home that evening she tells her that she’s “just letting her know” that she will be leaving for the trip on Friday. Her mom starts lecturing her and says she can’t go. Sarah decides she is going to go anyway.

Kimberly has a lot of homework to do and a big test tomorrow, she comes home, makes herself a snack, and gets to studying. Her mom has had a long, hard day at work, she comes home and sees the dirty dishes in the sink, and starts yelling at Kimberly saying that she always expects her to clean up after her. Kimberly storms out of the house.

Catherine plans a family trip, she puts a lot of effort into planning something she thinks the whole family would like. When she tells her daughter about it, her daughter says she’s not going because she has plans with her boyfriend that night, and because she doesn’t even like one of the aunts who would be joining them on the trip anyway.

Imani gets bad news about a friend’s health and shuts the door to her room to be alone and listen to sad music. Her mom knocks on the door and tells her it’s time for dinner. She doesn’t answer and locks the door. Her mother tells her that it’s important that Imani spend time with the family so that she can feel better and that the whole family is worried about her.

Leticia sets up a job interview for her daughter. When she tells her daughter about it, she says she’s not interested as she had decided that she’s not interested in that job and is looking for something else. Leticia tells her that if that’s the case she won’t help her with this kind of thing again. Her daughter ends up not going to the interview.
