Advanced Padi Flashcards
Don’t wear more weight…
than you need.
Check your weight requirements any time you
change your gear, change your environment, haven’t been diving in a while
Five step buoyancy check
- Enter water fully equipped. 2. Complete deflated BCD. 3. Hang vertically & motionless holding a normal breath. 4. Add or subtract weight until you float tat eye level holding breath. 5. Check you slowly sink when you exhale.
Buoyancy will __________ as you consume air
increase (from 2kg/5 lbs buoyancy increase)
When wearing a suit, adjust for these 3:
Air cylinder use, buoyancy loss from pressure compresses suite, increased buoyancy on ascension from suite re-expansion & BCD
Adjust your BCD to
float comfortably at surface and stay at depth when you arrive (not using it as an elevator)
Fine tune your buoyancy with…
your breath
Wear your weight…
forward, toward sides & stomach. Helps keep you horizontal.
To check weight distribution
float in shallow water and see if your body turns.
What does streamlining look like?
Not overweighted. Swim horizontally. Every accessory is clipped in it s place.
What defines a deep dive? (recreational)
18M/60F to 40M/130F
Optimal maximum deep dive limit
30M/100F
Special equipment for deep diving…
emergency breathing equipment, emergency O2, spare weights
Maximum ascent rate
18M/60Feet per Minute
