What do you need to assess for moving up the bed?
- Neck flexion
- Trunk flexion
- Elbow flexion
- Pushing through elbows
- Hip and knee flexion
- Pushing down through feet
- Clearing bottom from bed
If using a slide sheet to move a patient up the bed, what direction does the opening need to be towards?
In the direction that the patient is moving e.g. towards the head of the bed

Have the patient cross their arms over their chest

In what order do you move body parts when moving across the bed?
Bottom first, then top of body, then feet across

Towards the direction of movement
What do you need to assess for rolling onto side?
- Moving arm across chest towards the side rolling to
- Turn head towards side rolling to
- Flex nee up on leg opposite to the side rolling to - able to push through foot to lift that side of bottom
- Trunk rotation
What side do you stand on when doing a rolling onto side transfer?
On the side that the patient is rolling to
If using a slide sheet to roll a patient onto their side, what direction does the opening need to be towards?
Opening away from the direction that the patient is rolling
What do you need to assess for lying to SOEOB?
- Components of rolling onto side
- Hip and knee flexion
- Add/abd legs
- Push through arms
- Able to flex and laterally flex trunk
What do you need to assess for sit to stand?
- Knee flexion
- Push through arms
- Lean forward
- Move bottom forward
- Quad strength
- Hip extensor strength
- Ankle DF/PF
- Grip strength
During sit to stand what side do you stand on?
Affected or weaker side
What do you need to assess for bed to chair - standing +/- frame?
Same as sit to stand
Why would you do a pivot transfer?
If the patient did not have grade 3 or more leg strength / cannot stand upright
What do you need to assess for bed to chair - slideboard?
- Trunk control and sitting balance
- Able to push down through arms/hands
- Able to lift bottom side to side
