Advanced Life Support Flashcards
1
Q
what is asystole?
A
cardiac arrest rhythm with no discernible electrical activity on the ECG monitor
2
Q
what is pulseless electrical activity?
A
ECG shows electrical activity that should produce a pulse, but where cardiac output is absent, or insufficient, such that a pulse is not clinically detectable
3
Q
what are non-shockable rhythms?
A
- asystole
- pulseless electrical activity
4
Q
what is the management of non-shockable rhythms?
A
- CPR!!!
- adrenaline 1mg IV given in 1st cycle
- adrenaline every other cycle whilst rhythm persists
5
Q
what are shockable rhythms?
A
- ventricular fibrillation
- pulseless ventricular tachycardia
6
Q
what is ventricular tachycardia?
A
regular broad complex tachycardia
7
Q
what is ventricular fibrillation?
A
chaotic irregular deflections of varying amplitude
8
Q
how are shockable rhythms managed?
A
- CPR + shock
- CPR + shock
- CPR + shock
amiodarone 300mg IV + adrenaline 1mg IV - CPR + shock
- CPR + shock
adrenaline 1mg IV
