DHCP Failover
A
A feature introduced in Windows Server 2012 and newer systems that allows two DHCP servers to share the pool of IP addresses in a scope. Both servers have access to all addresses in the pool.

Hot standby
A
A DHCP Failover mode in which the backup server operates in standby mode and takes over if the main server goes down.

Load balance mode
A
A DHCP Failover mode in which both servers share the DHCP scope. If one server goes down, the other server takes over.

A
The maximum amount of time the backup server will wait before assuming control over the entire scope.
