Adrenergics Flashcards
alpha 1 agonists - used I.V. or orally to increase BP, and redness relief
Phenylephrine, Naphazoline, Midocrine, Oxymetazoline
Alpha 2 agonists - decrease sympathetic tone at post synapse to treat hypertension and withdrawal
Clonidine
Beta 1 agonists - increase force of heart in CHF pts. ADR = arrhythmia
Dobutamine
Beta 2 Agonists - Bronchodilate, vasodilate muscle, relax uterus, can also use for hyperleacemia
Albuterol/Terbutaline
Beta 2 Agonists - Non-selective B agonist for heart blocks, bradycardic. Can cause fachy and arrhythmia in coronary disease pts
Isopreterenol
Beta 2 Agonists - Binds to alpha 1, beta 1, beta 2. Not given orally. Used for anaphylactic shock, eye surgery, asthma
Epi
Dopaminergics - Used for shock, CHF, acute renal failure because dilates renal vessels. Fenoldopam - vasodilator for hypertension
Dopamine/Fenoldopam
Nonselective Alpha Blockers - Treat pheochromocytoma, rebound hypertension, prevent cheese effect
Phentolamine
Nonselective Alpha Blockers - Pheochrenataytorna do not give to those with coronary disease
Phenoxybenzamine
Selective Alpha 1 Blocker - Treat BPH and hypertension
Prazosin, terazosin, tanzulosin, alfzasin, doxasin
Other nonselective Beta blockers
Propranolol, timolol, nadolol, pindolol
Other Selective Beta Blockers
Metoprolol, atenolol, acebutol, esmolol
Beta Blockers w/ Intrinsic Sypathermimetics - selective for ventricular arrhythmia
Acebutolol
Beta Blockers w/ Intrinsic Sypathermimetics - selective for anti hypertension
Pindolol
Nonselective and irreversible cox inhibitor
Aspirin
