Q

Epinephrine (adrenaline)

A

Activates all adrenergic mostly beta and some alpha
DOC anaphylactic shock, also glaucoma, MI, IM drug assist
*high dose=alpha 1 which will override and vasoconstrict
SE tremor, HA, HTN, tachycardia

Contra: pt on beta blocker (a activity will go unchecked = severe HTN)

Q

Coke

A

Rarely used as anesthetic vasoconstrictor for dental procedure
Inhibit reputable of DA and NE
SE HTN stroke in healthy people : tachy, arrhythmia, MI, psychosis

17
Q

Tyramine

A

In food
Release catecholamines which form a fals transmitter
If pt on MAOI for depression they need to avoid these foods cause they’ll get HTN
