Q

NE is direct acting and is adrenergic acting on sympathetics. Tyramine is indirect acting and works indirectly to release NE. The NE will then act on alpha1 receptors and cause vasoconstriction of BVs which increases BP.

Q
A

Answer: increase HR d/t direct cardiac effect of NE

Why? Atropine is muscarinic antagonist so we won’t have a decreased HR. Instead NE will cause an increased HR and NE is a direct acting adrenergic agonist.

Q
A

Answer: NE plus phentolamine

Dobumatine is a selective B-1 agonist

NE is a alpha 1 & alpha 2 agonist & B1 agonist and phentolamine is a non selective alpha1 and alpha 2 antagonists

Q
A

Answer: phentolamine-induced tachycardia

Propranolol is a non-selective B-blocker

A is wrong bc: Propranolol can stop mydriasis bc phenylephrine acts on alpha-1 receptors

B is wrong bc NE acts on a1=a2 and B1>>B2 receptors

C is correct bc Phentolamine is a non-selective alpha1 & alpha 2 antagonist
