Adrenaline 1:1000 Flashcards
What is Adrenaline?
Adrenaline is a sympathomimetic medication. It is a none selective agonist.
What is a none selective agonist.
It is when it can act on both beta and alpha receptors.
How does Adrenaline work?
It works by binding to a variety of adrenergic receptors. By binding to them, it creates a number of metobolic changes.
How does Adrenaline affect the heart?
It binds to beta 1 receptors and this causes an increase in contractility and cardiac output.
How does Adrenaline affect the blood vessells?
It causes vaso constriction which increases the systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
How does Adrenaline affect the lungs?
It binds to beta 2 receptors causing the relaxation of smooth muscles and bronchodilation.
