What Components do the Deck Engine Control?
Fluid Pumps (Suction and Discharge), Mixer, Bulk Tank System (Acrison, Augers, Vibrators), LA Pumps (transfer and metering), Actuators ( metering and valves).
What are the Fluid Handling Components?
Suction Pump, Mixer, Concentrate Pump, Driver and Passenger side log headers, Internal Manifold and mixer cicuit, Hydration tank, control valves, Mag Flow Meter
What Makes up the Bulk Metering Tank?
Augers, Acrison Feeder, Vibrators, Pnuematic Conveying, Inventory and callibration load cells, Control System.
Why Use centrifugal Pumps?
They are more tolerant to abrasive fluids than gear or vane Pumps. Note Less tolerant of Air
Define Horsepower
Power required by the pump, not the HHP delivered. Based on fluid with Density of water.
How to reduce Friction Loss
Varying the number and length of 20 ft 4in hoses. Rule of thumb is 10 bpm through each, but changes. Suction Lines short as possible.
What is Water hammer
When a valve is on the discharge side is closed to quickly. This exerts high pressure throughout system. A water hammer can break the pump casing.
Discuss how Liquid Concentrate is made
Clean water is drawn from the driver side manifold, water is pressurized by suction pump, sent to mixer, Mixer combines gelled powder brought from Augers to Acrison Feeder.
Where does Liquid Concentrate Go?
Sent to driver side hydration tank, flows through and is drawn off by the Concentrate metering system. Pumped to the suction manifold of the Blender. Concurrent the blender pulls water from the crossover or from lines directly from the water tanks.
Discuss the Mixing system.
The centrifugal suction pump creates pressure and sends fluid to the wetting ring. Dry gel is metered into the open eye from acrison feeder. The pressure from the wetting ring creates the mixing energy needed.
Discuss the Tub Level Control
Works in tandem with the suction pump to allow the mixer to operate at a specific flow rate and pressure. 30 psi is recommended from suction pump.
When going to external Hydro, valve can be manually set to flow, or slaved to clean rate of blender.
When doing concentrate to on-board hydro, the tub level will match fluid in and out to match set point.
Discuss Hydration Tank
first in/first out. Allows to provide gel for fracture on the fly @ rates up to 80 Bpm. Use Gel calculator to determine actual rates.
What is the Maximum Working Volume of Hydration Tank
Tank holds 83 bbl. Max Working volume is 75 bbl. Halliburton Best Practices 80% most crews do 75%
What makes up the Concentrate System?
Mission Magnum 8X6 centrifugal Pump, 6 in Rosemount mag flow meter, control valve.
Discuss How the Bulk Tank Works
Horizontal Auger conveys to the Vertical Auger, Vertical elevates powder and discharges it to Acrison Feeder. Augers’ rate is constant, Acrison rate changes dependant on Volume. Amount entering hopper, is consistently over filling. Vibrators move gel to the bottom auger.
