Independence from family Sexual relationships Leaving school/entering work Legal threshold: sex, drinking, driving Self-sufficiency: money, leisure, distress Increase importance of peers
What happens in the psychological component of adolescence?
Increase in sexual interest
Mood less stable
Capacity for more complex/abstract conceptual thoughts (justice)
What disorders can be found specifically in adolescence?
Autism
Conduct disorder
Eating disorder/self-harm
What are the factors in a CAMHS assessment?
Predisposing Precipitating Perpetuating Protecting From: Individual, family & environment
In terms of confidentiality, what do parents have a right to?
Duty of care
Right to family life
Children are not their parents property
When can you break confidentiality for minors?
Disclosure is necessary to protect the child/young person/someone else from risk of death or serious harm
Risk of neglect/physical/sexual/emotional abuse
Behaviour is putting them/others at risk of serious harm
