Also known as a “new version,” this work can include musical arrangements, motion pictures, art reproductions, sound recordings or translations. They can also include dramatizations and fictionalizations, such as a movie based on a play.

Public domain is the status of a literary work or an invention whose copyright or patent has expired or that never had such protection.
