Schedules inpatient and outpatient appointments for medical imaging procedures
What is the procedure for patient valuables?
If the patient is unable to leave their valuables at home, a safekeeping service is available to lock up any money and valuables that will fit into an envelope
What two forms are required for the patient valuables safekeeping service?
i. Client Valuables Envelope form is filled out in Admitting
ii. patient must sign a Waiver of Responsibility for Valuables and Personal Items form
Census Tracking
Most hospitals have an EMR system to track patient admissions, discharges and transfers; it is imperative that the census info is up to date and accurate
Discharges - NUC’s responsibility
the NUC has to enter the type of discharge and the time
Transfers
A transfer refers to any time an inpatient is moved from one place to another within the hospital (even just from one bed to another); the NUC must enter the reason for the transfer
must be entered when they occur

iii. Wards
must include the room AND bed number for semi-private rooms and wards
Day Care Patients
Outpatients come into and leave the hospital on the same day
