Academics: What is the difference between SACUA and the University Senate?
SACUA is the executive part of the University (Faculty) Senate and the Senate Assembly. The Senate Assembly has 77 elected faculty members from all 3 UM campuses that act as representatives for faculty concerns or interests.

Research: Briefly explain the recent findings by U of M researchers that could potentially lead to a cure for HIV in the future?
Concanamycin A (CMA) found to potentially have anti-HIV effects bc it has ability to reverse effects of Nef protein (this allows HIV virus to “hide” from immune system). Researchers used gene editing to increase CMA production 2000 fold in bacteria where it is made. More research needed, but promising for future drug development
