Numbers 20 - Hundred

A

Zwanzig
Dreissig
Vierzig
Fünfzig
Sechzig
Siebzig
Achtzig
Neunzig
Hundert

  • For numbers over “einhundert “ ( one hundred ) we add the numbers from 1-99 directly after the multiple of 100. EX : einhundertvierundzwanzig ( 124 )
  • For anything within 20 minutes after the hour, you use nach. EX : Es ist zwanzig nach zwei. ( it’s twenty past two/ 2:20pm )
  • For anything within 20 minutes before the hour, you use vor. EX : Es ist zehn vor sieben. ( It’s ten to seven/6:50pm )
  • If you use nach and vor, you only use the numbers from 0-12, not the 24 hour clock.
  • When telling the time to the half hour, instead of focusing on the previous hour, you actually refer to the hour to come. You use : Es ist.. Followed by halb and then the next full hour. EX : Es ist halb sechs ( it’s half past five/ 5:30am ). Es ist halb drei ( it’s half past two/ 2:30am ).
