What is an adjective phrase?
A prepositional phrase that modifies a noun or pronoun
Do adjective phrases come after the word(s) they modify?
8/10 times an adjective phrase will come after the word(s) they modify.
Ex. The dog with shaggy hair
“with shaggy hair” comes after the subject dog, in which it modifies
Can adjective phrases come back to back?
Can they modify other adjective phrases?
Yes.
Ex. The dog “with shaggy hair” (ADJ, Ph) “on its head” (ADJ, Ph)
The phrases are sperate and “with shaggy hair” modifies dog (which one) while “on its head” modifies hair (where)
Can there be two adjective phrases in a sentence that share the words they modify?
In this case do they need a conjunction?
Yes.
ex. The dog “with shaggy hair” and “with a waggy tail”
Both phrases modify dog with the question “which one?”
OR there can be no conjunction
ex. The girl “in my class” “with glasses”
Both phrases modify modify girl with “Which one” but are different phrases with no word in between.
What is true about multiple adjective phrases in a sentence?
ADJ phrases tend to modify words within those phrases but not a whole phrase modifying a whole phrase.
