ADHD

A

Persistent pattern of inattention &/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes w/ functioning/development, as characterized by 1 & or 2:
Sx do not occur exclusively during the course of Schizophrenia/another psychotic disorder & are not better explained by another mental disorder
Specify Presentation within the last 6 months: Combined (314.01), Predominantly Inattentive (314.00), or Predominantly Hyperactive/Impulsive (314.01)
Specify if in partial remission (fewer than the full criteria are met w/in the last 6 months & sx continue to impact fx)
Specify current severity: Mild, Moderate, Severe

ADHD Inattentive

A

Inattention: 6 or more (5+ for adolescents & adults 17+) of the following sx have persisted for at least 6 months to a degree inconsistent w/ developmental level & that negatively impacts directly on social & academic/occupational activities (cannot be due to defiance)
Often fails to give close attention to or makes careless mistakes in schoolwork, at work, or during other activities
Often has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks/play activities
Often does not listen to when spoken to directly
Often does not follow through on instructions & fails to finish duties
Often has difficulty organizing tasks & activities
Often avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort
Often loses things that are required for tasks/activities
Is often distracted by extraneous stimuli
Is often forgetful in daily activities

ADHD Hyperactive

A

Hyperactivity: 6 or more (5+ for adolescents & adults 17+) of the following sx have persisted for at least 6 months to a degree inconsistent w/ developmental level & that negatively impacts directly on social & academic/occupational activities (cannot be due to defiance)
Often fidgets w/ or taps hands/feet; squirms in seat
Often leaves seat in situations when remaining seated is expected
Often runs about/climbs in situations where it is inappropriate (in adolescents/adults: may be feeling restless)
Often unable to play/engage in leisure activities quietly
Is often “on the go”, acting as if “driven by a motor”
Often talks excessively
Often blurts out an answer before a question has been completed
Often has difficulty waiting their turn
Often interrupts/intrudes on others
