- strong tail for balance
- intestine reabsorbs water meaning it is recycled
- long, thin feet allow hopping over long distances which is faster and easier
- lick and spit on wrists leading to heat leaving body therefore cooling the body

- thick fur on the top for shade
- large surface area to volume ratio to maximise heat loss

- spines instead of leaves for protection and small surface area to minimise water loss
- wise roots to collect water from a wide area and very quickly

- grow new leaves 5 days after getting water
- shallow but side root system
- seeds can lay dormant for years then become live when it eventually rains
