Q

What are some examples of organs or functions that are not considered an adaptation?

A

Organs or functions that are needed for survival. An example is a cow having a heart and being able to urinate. Those two things are not adaptations.

Q

How do species survive after a short-term environmental change occurs?

A

They end up having to adapt to their environment in order to survive and not die off.

16
Q

Why do adaptations occur?

A

Adaptations help species fit into their environment to be able to survive and reproduce.

17
Q

List ALL examples of structural adaptations:

A

Poision & vemon, horns & thorns, claws & fangs, armor, bad taste & smell, camouflage & minicry.

18
Q

List ALL examples of behavioral adaptations:

A

Flight, speed, courtship display, risky behavior.

19
Q

Define selective breeding:

A

Selective breeding involves choosing parents with particular characteristics to breed together and produce offspring with more desirable characteristics.

20
Q

Explain the differences between natural selection and selective breeding. Provide examples of each.

A

Selective breeding is when a human selects what traits they want in a species but natural selection is when organisms pass on traits. Ex Peppered moths for natural selection and picking what traits you want in a dog for selective breeding.
