Q

BROCO general rules (8):

A
  • No work of any kind carried out above the diver
  • The work return lead is to be securely grounded to the work or strike plate.
  • The BROCO torch and all power cables are to be fully insulated and checked before diving. Repaired by a qualified electrician only.
  • Only DC power.
  • A +ve double-pole isolator switch must be part of the circuit to protect the diver.
  • The work return (earthing) clamp must be +ve polarity.
  • All torch and oxygen hoses and connections must be free from oil, grease and dirt.
  • the circuit breaker is to be in the ‘COLD’ position unless the diver is actually attempting to strike an arc.

Q

BROCO safety rules (6):

A
  • The diver is to wear gloves. Where possible, diver is to be insulated from the water.
  • Power to be ‘COLD’ as soon as arc is struck and when cutting is not taking place.
  • The diver must signal surface to make sure power is off before changing rods.
  • Under no circumstances is the diver to position himself between the BROCO torch and the work clamp. In doing so they are risking electric shock.
  • Before making cut, check behind target. Cut top to bottom.
  • Arc eye doesn’t happen underwater, but make sure you use welding lens.

Q

Concerting general rules (7)

A
  • Admixtures should be used if available. If Admixtures not available concrete must be prevented from falling through water. Measures must be taken to prevent cement/fine sand washout after placement.
  • Concrete is to be more free flowing than normal. Plasticisers are to be used if available.
  • Cement content increased by 10-15% to allow for inevitable losses.
  • If work done in stages, Latinate must be removed at every stage by screeing away on completion of each layer.
  • If concrete placed on silt bottom, silt should be removed to prevent it mixing with concrete.
  • allow for difficult working conditions. Do as much on surface as possible.
  • Advance planning is essential. Once concrete is delivered and pouring starts it must not stop.
17
Q

Concreting Methods

A
  • Bags
  • Bottom opening skip
  • Tremie (has go devil plug)
  • Toggle bag
