Acyanotic Heart Dse. Flashcards
Systolic murmur at the lower border of the sternum
Cardiac catheterization reveals increased PO saturation at right side of the heart.
ECG reveals right sided hypertrophy.
VENTRICULAR SEPTAL DEFECT
Systolic murmur at the upper border of the sternum.
Cardiac catheterization reveals increased PO, saturation at right side of the heart.
ECG reveals hypertophy of the right side of heart.
ATRIAL SEPTAL DEFECT
Only confirmed by cardiac catheterization.
Endocardial Cushion Defect
Continuous machinery-like murmur.
Prominent radial pulse.
ECG reveals left ventricular hypertrophy.
PATENT DUCTUS ARTERIOSUS
Typical systolic ejection murmur
S2 sound is widely split
Thrill may be present
ECG reveals right ventricular hypertrophy
PULMONARY STENOSIS
ECG reveals left ventricular hypertrophy.
May exhibit symptoms similar to angina
AORTIC STENOSIS
Dysphagia
Dyspnea
ECG reveals left ventricular hypertrophy
DUPLICATION OF SORTIC ARCH
Absent femoral pulse
BP higher in upper extremities and lower in lower extremitie.
ECG reveals left ventricular hypertrophy
Epistaxis
COARCTATION OF AORTA
COARCTATION OF AORTIC ARCH
- Closed heart surgery
- Surgical resection of narrowed portion, end to end anastomosis of aorta, and enlargement of aorta via graft.
- Monitor BP in all four extremities.
