Indwelling 16 F or 18 F Foley Catheter for bladder decompression
Catheter education
Tamsulosin CR 0.4 mg PO daily
Urologic Follow Up
PSH and outpatient U/S KUB
MANAGEMENT: CATHETER FAILURE
Anesthetize the urethra with 10 mL of 2% Lidocaine jelly (commercially available urethral syringe)
Elbow catheter (Coude catheter)
If this fails consult urology OR suprapubic catheterization
INVESTIGATIONS
CBC
Lytes
Cr
U/A
Consider bedside bladder scan or abdominal U/S if diagnosis is in doubt
