Ascending infection from the lower urinary tract to the kidneys

- Fevers, rigors
- loin pain
- vomiting
- urinary symptoms/hx of

What investigations are need in acute pyelonephritis?
A
- routine bloods
- blood culture
- urine MCS

What is the management of acute pyelonephritis?
A
- Broad spectrum antibiotics i.e. cephalosporins or quinolone
- Re-assess antibiotic to give when urine MCS comes back
