T. Denticola T. Vincentii P. Intermedia P. Gingivalis F. Nucletaum Gram negative rods and spirochates form fuso-spirochaetal complex. Spirochaetes invade tissue. Unable to infect healthy subjects
Signs of necrotising gingivitis
Acute gingival pain
Punched out ulceration of interdental papilla
Ulcers which bleed spontaneously
Foetor oris
Lymphadenopathy
Necrotic grey pseudomembranous slough covering interdental papilla
Signs of necrotising periodontitis
Deep interproximal craters with denudation of alveolar bone
Sequestration of interdental or buccal / lingual bone
Management of necrotising periodontitis
Debridement under LA Chlorhexidine mouthwash Analgesia Severe cases : metronidazole 200mg tid for 3 days or Amoxicillin 250mg tid for 5 days Periodontal follow up
