What is ovarian torsion?

Answer 1

Sudden onset of localised pelvic pain (either of the iliac fossa’s) - onset may be related to exercise
Can radiate to loin, groin or back

Nausea and vomiting are common
May develop a low grade fever - esp. if experiencing torsion for a long time –> ovarian necrosis

Unilateral tender adnexal mass on examination
