A
  • physical agents e.g heat cold, radiation
  • irritants/corrosive - acids or alkaloids
  • microbial infections - pyogenic bacteria
  • immune-mediated hypersensitvity e.g. allergic rhinitis
  • tissue necrosis (ischaemia from myocardial infarction)
