A
- “but for” test (R v Pagett)
- more than de minimis (R v Hughes)

How do you find factual causation?
A
- Thin skull rule: take your victim as you find them (R v blaue)
- Novus Actus Interveniens (R v Pagett) - girlfriend a shield has foreseeable consequences
- Medical treatment : unlikely to break the chain of causation (R v Smith) unless the error is totally unrelated to the injury (R v Jordan)
- Rejecting medical treatment is not Novus actus (R v Blaue)
- Victim’s own act if foreseeable, not Novus actus (R v Roberts)
