acts drug indications Flashcards
levophed
hypotension
epinephrine
increases CO, and myocardial/cerebral blood flow,
amiodarone
antiarrhythmic, vf/vt pulseless
lidocaine
antiarrithmics after amiodarone, and avoid with hb and bradycardia/pvcs
mag sulfate
torsades and avoid in patients with renal disease/hb
dopamine
low bp and bradycardia give after atropine
atropine
bradycardia with/without symptoms
adenosine
first drug for most forms of stable narrow svt
procainamide
treats svt, atrial flutter, vt with pulse
sotalol
treats svt arrhthmias without structural heart disease
ibutilide
treats supra ventricular arrhytmias including a fib and a flutter when lasting longer than 48 hours
digoxin
slows ventricular response to a fib/flutter and alternative drug for reentry svt
isoproteronal
can be used for beta blocker posioning, and torsades thats refractory to mag sulfate
diltiazem
controls ventricular rate in atrial fib/flutter and used after adenosine to treat refactory reentry svt
sodium bicarb
used for preexisting hyperkalemia or bicarbonate responsive acidosis
dobutamine
pump problems with no signs of shock like CHF and pulmonary congestion
inamrinone
severe chf refractory to diuretics, vasodilators, and conventional inotropic agents
milrinone
myocardial dysfunction
morphine sulfate
chest pain with acute coronary syndrome unresponsive to nitrates and pulmonary edema
narcan
reverses drug overdose
nitroglycerin
initial use for suspected ischmeic pain
nitroprusside
hypertensive crisis and to reduce after load in heart failure
nicardipine
indicated for hypertensive emergencies like stroke
glucagon
treatment for toxic effects of BB, CCB
