Active Transport Flashcards
1
Q
What can some chemicals also be moved by?
A
Active Transport
2
Q
What is active transport?
A
The movement of a substance against a concentration
3
Q
Give an example of this
A
ie. from a region of low concentration to a region of high concentration
4
Q
What does it require to make this movement?
A
Energy from respiration
5
Q
Give an example of this
A
ie. if the concentration of glucose inside a cell is higher than the concentration outside the cell, the glucose would diffuse the cell also the concentration gradient. So, cells use active transport to bring all of the glucose back inside the cell
