Ions and Molecules are moved across the membranes against a concentration gradient

Molecules or ion, needs to be transported, combines with a soecific intrinsic protein called a pump

What does ATP transfer
A
ATP transfers a phosphate group to the pump inside the membrane

What happens to the pump after the phosphate group has been transferred

Causes the pump to change shape and transports the ion or molecules across the membrane, the molecle or ion is relesed into the cell

A
Includes protein synthesis, muscles contraction, nerve impulse, transmisson and absorbtion of minerals such as nitrates by a plant root cell
