Q

What is Active Transport

A

Active Transport is the movement of ions or molecules across a cell membrane through the use of celular energy (ATP). The movement of these ions or molecules occurs against the concentration gradient.

Q

Differences between A.T and Diffusion

A
  • Active Transport uses energy in the form of ATP to transport ions or molecules while diffusion uses the kinetic energy of the molecules as they move freely.

-Active Transport occurs against the concentration gradient while diffusion occurs down the concentration gradient.
