active directory sites Flashcards
wat is een SITE
A site is a well connected network
Can be seperated from other networks through slow network connections
Bandwidth is guaranteed and more than enough
Usually a site corresponds with an ip subnet
hoe noemen we replication within SITES
INTRA site
hoe noemen we replication between SITES
INTER site
wat voor soort replication is dit: Every hour 1 dc will contact the other to ask for changes
pull replication
wat voor soort replication is dit: Every 5 min 1 dc will notify the other cds of changes in its database
push replication
hoe werkt INTRA site replication
Every hour 1 dc will contact the other to ask for changes (pull replication)
Every 5 min 1 dc will notify the other dcs of changes in its database (push replication)
Protocol for replication is RPC (remote procedure calls)
Replication can happen every moment of the day (no schedule)
hoe werkt INTER site replication
Every 3 hours 1 dc will contact the other to ask for changes (pull replication) the CD has 1 hour to continue replication
No more notify ( no push replication)
Protocol used for replication is IP (more firewall friendly)
Every 3 hours replication is allowed for 1 hour
hoe worden replication objects gemaakt
Automatically created by KCC service (knowledge consistency checker)
Properties of the connection objects are determined by the KCC
BUT -> if you make changes to connection objects then the KCC will no longer be responisble for these objects
hoe forceren we de KCC
Ntds settings > all tasks > check topology > f5
Dont right-click on the connection object
hoe configureren/maken we replication voor servers in aparte SITES
Make 2 new sites and put them in the default ip sitelink (they will be able to use the ip protocol for replication i fit is necessary)
Make 2 new subnets
Replicate this information between the dc’s
Move server1 to site1 and server2 to site2
The KCC will recalculate the connection objects -> this can take time, can by sped up by check replication topology and force replication
