Action Potential Flashcards
1
Q
Threshold Potential
A
the membrane potential at which depolarization becomes self-regenerative, i.e., no additional stimulus is required
2
Q
Depolarization
A
beginning at the VR, depolarization refers to any change in the Vm that reduces the magnitude of the membrane potential (makes the Vm less negative or more positive)
3
Q
postsynaptic potential
A
The changes in membrane potential that result from the interaction of a neurotransmitter with a postsynaptic receptor (its a type of local potential)
