Why is empathy important to an actor?
It is the capacity to recognize and share feelings

Why are childhood memories and animal exercises often used in method style acting?
To relive moments of a characters life to better understand where they are today
Animal: Instincts, no filter, finding triggers into why we do something when we do them
What is substitution?
Identifying with an equitable emotion(s) you can substitute your emotion(s) with the presented requirement
What is sense memory?
Identifying then stimulating your five senses to identify with a moment, object, or emotion
What is the difference between an objective and a super objective?
Obj: something immediate; a want, something you can complete
Super obj.: overarching goal; an end obj.
What are tactics?
A character’s (or your) strategy to complete their objective
What goals should you have an as actor during the rehearsal and performance stage?
- Never break character on stage
- Blocking needs to be memorized. Write it down during rehearsal.
- Be consistent
- Maintain control
- Be prepared for rehearsals
- All lines need to be memorized accurately
- Don’t present a stereotype
- Rehearse as if it is a performance
- Voices need to be heard in the back row (projection) and be clearly understood (enunciation)
- Move beyond the lines
- Listen
- By making others on stage look better, you look better
Why is a character’s history important?
It builds the context of why we are here in the particular moment.
