Actin Lab Flashcards
1
Q
Immunoflorescence
A
Using colored proteins that bind to antibodies to create a certain color in a microscopic picture
2
Q
Actin Polymerization
A
G actin- globular (individual) binds with ATP and turns into –> dimer (two actin)
–> trimer (three) –> F actin (filament)
Actin filament binds from negative end to positive end and the ATP (phosphorus) glue falls out starting at the negative end
3
Q
Myosin and Cell Motility
A
- *Actin and Myosin complex moves organelles through the cells**
1. organelle attaches to myosin which is attached to actin filament that acts as an internal highway for transportation throughout the cell
4
Q
Cytochalasin
A
Capping protein that inhibits filament production
