A
- In an attempt to regain Othello’s favour cassio employs some musicians to play for O and D after their wedding night.
- the clown enters and tells the musicians that their music is no good, makes a dirty joke about their instruments tails being like flaccid penises and pays them to stop playing and go.
- cassio asks the clown to stop playing games and fetch emilia to speak with him.

- The clown agrees with more word play. Iago appears.
- Iago appears, Cassio tells him what he has done and Iago agrees to help by getting Othello out of the way.
- Cassio thanks him and Iago goes.
- Emilia enters and tells Cassio that Othello and Desdemona are discussing his dismissal and that Desdemona is speaking up for him.
- Emilia continues by telling C that Othello wants to reinstate him, and is only waiting for the right time.
- Cassio nevertheless presses for an opportunity to speak to Desdemona alone.
