Q

Portias conflict

A

“something tells me but it is not love that I would not want to lose you. In case you do not understand me well but i do not have the freedom to express my emotions but can only think about them. I could help you to choose right, but that would break my oath. But if you fail it would make me think that i should have broken the oath. These naughty times puts barriers between the owners and their feelings.

Q

Portias imagination

A

If you lose, I will make a swan like end, fading in the music and my eyes shall be the stream and the watery death bed for him.
If he wins, it will be like notes of trumpet when the loyal subjects bow down to the newly crowned king or the sweet sounds the bride-groom wake up to, to signify that their marriage day has come.
He is of more handsome presence than hercules and with much more love. The sacrifice is portia and the other woman in the surroundings are the dardanian wives

Q

Bassaios thoughts on outward appearances

A

Law- the tainted and corrupt and covered with a gracious voice, which hides the show of evil
Religion- a great sin will be justified by a grave face when they quote texts from scriptures to justify their wrongdoings, hiding in the grossness with fair ornaments
Cowards hearts are all false and are their souls are like stairs of sand, yet wear beards like hercules and frowning mars. Their livers are as white as milk.
Beauty- Cosmetics are purchased by weight, they try to change the natural features of their face and try to look the fairest of them all. The crisped snaked golden locks are usually a possession of another head.
Gold- Midas
Silver- its like a common slave passing from men to men
Lead- Its blunt message moves me more than eloquence
