How does this scene begin?
With Curan telling Edmund that both Goneril and Regan are coming to stay
What key quote shows that Edmund runs the and why is is of tragic significance?
Edmund first pulls out a sword and pretends to fight Edgar, then he tells his brother after he enters to ‘fly brother fly’ (telling him to leave) because Gloucester is coming and Edmund doesn’t want Edgar to disagree. This is of tragic significance because it shows that villains have control in this scenario, at the hands of the tragic protagonists such as Gloucester, who’s tragic flaws are preyed on by Edmund
What is tragic in this scene?
The fact that Gloucester is blind to Edmund’s manipulation of him (when trying to turn him against Edgar), despite the fact he uses Edgar’s own speech
Where does Gloucester use repetition and why is this key?
When speaking with Regan, he constantly says ‘madam’ and ‘lady’ showing he is distressed - not in control of emotions
What is the relationship between Cornwall and Edmund?
Cornwall is at the top of the hierarchy as he has 1/2 of the land, and he appoints Edmund as a follower
