“Fellow, why dost thou show me thus to the world”
Making a show of it; Angelo is ruthless
Claudio –> Provost
“A horse whereon the governor doth ride”
Metaphor-harshness and aggression, “he’s riding the horse with his spurs”
Claudio –> Lucio
“There’s one yonder arrested and carried to prison worth five thousand of you”
Solidifies Claudio’s position, he is a noble man. Also comments on how Angelo is going after the ‘biggest fish’; similarly secures Lucio as comedic relief
Mistress Overdone –> Lucio
“I have purchased many diseases under her roof”
Context-Sex industry; shows normalisation of prostitution at the time
Lucio –> Gentlemen
“You know the lady, she is fast my wife”
Claudio is to marry Juliette; it is not an unplanned frivolous pregnancy, they were just waiting on the dowry
