21
Q

Duke Frederick can be compared best to which of the DeBoys brothers? Why?

A

Oliver. This is because they are both very jealous people. Duke Frederick banished his brother, Duke Senior, because he was better liked by the people. Oliver does the same thing when he keeps Orlando from being educated and tries to kill him because people like Orlando better. Both characters will do whatever it takes to be better than everyone, and they are both very moody.

22
Q

How are Celia and Rosalind similar? How are they different?

A

They are both very caring towards each other and generally kind to others. The difference between them is that Rosalind is impulsive, whereas Celia is more level headed and emotionally intelligent.

23
Q

What things has Oliver done to sabotage Orlando’s life?

A
  1. He lied to Charles to make it seem like Orlando seem viscous and evil.
  2. He refuses to allow Orlando an education
  3. He is withholding Orlando’s share of inheritance.
  4. He planned to kill him by burning his bed while he slept.
24
Q

Why was Silvius upset when he was speaking to Corin in the forest?

A

Because he is desperately in love with Phebe, but she does not notice him or return his feelings.

25
Q

Why didn’t Orlando care if he died in the wrestling match?

A

Orlando feels as if nobody likes him. Despite the fact that he is well liked by many people, he doesn’t see it that way. He has low self esteem and feels that he is worthless because he is uneducated. Even his own family dislikes him. He feels like there is nobody in the world who would miss him if he were to die. He is just “taking up space”.

26
Q

Why did Duke Frederick banish Rosalind from the court?

A

He banished Rosalind because the people favourited Rosalind over Celia. Also, they pity her because her father was banished. He didn’t think that Celia would ever be able to claim the throne and be a powerful leader as long as Rosalind was around.
