Alliteration
Repetition of same or similar sounds in beginning or end of words. “Where would the world be.”
Antithesis
Figure of speech which words or phrases with opposite meaning balanced against eachother. “To err is human, to forgive divine.”
Apostrophe
Words spoken to a person, absent/imaginary. Object or abstract idea. “O world, I cannot hold thee close enough.”
Assonance
Repetition of similar sounds especially vowel sounds.” Thou still unrevised bride of quietness.”
Ballad
A poem that tells a story familiar to a folk tale. Often has repeated refrain. “The rime of the ancient mariner.”
Blank verse
Poetry that is written in unrhymed iambic pentameter. Shakespeare wrote most of poems in blank verse.

Conceit
Fanciful poetic image or metaphor that likens one thing to something else seemingly different, “Shall I compare thee to a summers day”
Consonance
Repetition of similar consonant sounds, especially at the ends of words. Lost, past confess, dismiss
